Four Looks to try this Spring

Spring is just around the corner and if your like me you can’t wait. We have researched the latest trends and have four looks for you to try.

  • Anything Periwinkle

Pantone’s color of the year is Very Peri 17-3938 so periwinkle blue is hot. Periwinkle is a universal color which means it flatters warm, cool, olive, or neutral skin tones. Some of the other universal colors include teal, turquoise, pastel pink, taupe, and navy. When it comes to clothing try to incorporate periwinkle and don’t be afraid to mix and match with other universal colors or basics like black and white. Periwinkle will bring a nice pop of color and lift your skin tone so make it part of your spring fashion planning.

When int comes to beauty, you’ll see periwinkle show up with bold eye shadow shades, nail polish and mascara.  Since periwinkle blue is pigment intense we recommend that you use it sparingly. For instance, we wouldn’t recommend that you use the periwinkle mascara as well as eye shadow. Tip: When using periwinkle nail polish be sure to seek a plant based polish. You can read more about that in our previous post here.

  • Healthy Glowing Skin

Glowing skin will never be out of style so be sure to invest time in your skin routine as well as the skin products you use. The first step along the path to glowing skin is to optimize your skin regime. If you don’t have a skin regime, you need one. The basics include: daily cleanser, exfoliation scrub (for occasional use only), sunscreen and moisturizer. If you are older you should add additional products like facial oil, under eye treatment and wrinkle treatment as needed. For the daily regime you can find products that have dual use. When seeking products keep in mind your skin sensitivity and general skin type (oily vs dry, etc…). Your ultimate goal should be to find a safe (we believe in plant based products) and effective products that balance your skin. You do not have to spend more to find the best basics but you may want to spend more on the specialty treatments. Along with choosing the optimal products for your skin type it is important to have a healthy overall lifestyle which includes diet, rest and hydration. • A Bright Lip

We are back to limited masks so why not show off those lips with a nice bold color. Try a bright red! Yes, I said it RED! I know it freaks me out too but believe me once you find your perfect red it will be a constant you can pull out on special occasions or when you’re feeling sassy. The main variable in picking the right red lipstick is finding a shade that complements your skin tone and its undertones. Skin tone is defined as the level of melanin in the skin that ranges from fair to dark, while undertones are the colors (red, yellow, or blue) that create your specific complexion. Each person has a unique mix of undertones and overall shades so getting the perfect red could take some time. Tip: we recommend going to a beauty expert at Sephora or the like to find your perfect shade. It will take some time but finding the perfect lip color will be worth it. • High Half Pony Tail and Statement Hair Pieces

Hair accessories are all the rage. From combs, head bands, claw clips, barrettes and hair pins there are options for all hair lengths and colors. This spring the hair pieces come in new colors and with new adornments. Bright colors, new shapes, rhinestones, beads and feathers are all in fashion for the spring. If you’re feeling a little drab, adding statement hair pieces can lighten and brighten up your look. We particularly like this trend because its temporary. You can pull your hair up with a trendy bright hair claw one day and wear your hair down with dainty barrettes the next. Tip: We don’t feel you have to spend a fortune on hair accessories. Unless you plan to pass something down through the generations, we recommend buying something functional but not super expensive. If you want some ideas check our claires.com. There are some very young styles but also some options for women. Another benefit of hair accessories is that one size fits all.

The high half pony is another big trend for this spring. This is a great style for long hair and it basically involves pulling the hair around your face back  and into a high pony tail while leaving the hair in the back and sides long. The result is a flattering clean, fresh and fun look. Tip: If you want to try this look google it and there are literally hundreds of images and you tube tutorials.

In summary, this Spring brings new styles. So put your hair in a high half pony tail, put on your periwinkle top, show off your glowing skin and red lipstick and enjoy the sunshine.
