Top 2021 Beauty Resolutions

Its time for a new brighter year. There are a few simple steps you can take to improve and refresh your personal beauty. Let’s get started:Clean your Stash & Tools

  • Clean your Stash & Tools

One of the most important and beneficial things you can do is to clean your makeup brushes. If you use your brushes regularly it is recommended that you clean them 1-2 times a week. If you have invested in good brushes keeping them clean not only helps your skin from breaking out and makeup to be applied more evenly but it will also prolong the life of your brushes. Cleaning is simple, just follow these steps:

  1. Wet the bristles with lukewarm water.
  2. Place a drop of your cleanser of choice into the palm of your clean hand and gently message the tips of the bristles in your palm.  If you’re not sure what cleanser to use you can use a mild shampoo or antibacterial soap.
  3. Rinse the bristles thoroughly and squeeze the excess moisture out with a clean towel. Be sure to let the brushes dry completely before using them.

Get rid of old or out of date makeup. This can be a challenging step because many companies don’t have open coded best before dates. You may have to research by company online to determine the products age and freshness. In general, liquid makeup and cream has shorter shelf lives so you should start with foundations, mascara and other liquid makeups or skin creams. The basic guideline is, when in doubt, through it out! I know you love that bright blue eyeliner but its time to be honest about weather you actually use it and how long you’ve had it.

  • Update your Beauty Regime

If you don’t feel your skin or makeup is optimized take some time to review your regime and make a minor adjustment. I like the idea of a minor change since the results will be noticed or not. There is no perfect science since each persons skin is unique but for skin we recommend you consider your cleanser, be sure you’re exfoliating and add or be sure you’re using a facial oil. If you want to brighten and even your skin we recommend our Shine Brightening Facial Oil. If your goal is to minimize lines and protect your skin from signs of aging then we recommend REWIND Organic Toning Oil. When it comes to makeup, we recommend focusing on your eyes (especially since we will still be wearing masks for a good part of the year). Focus on your brows, lashes and lids. If you want to grow lashes and brows naturally try our Wink Lash & Brow Oil. For lids we recommend a more subtle shade.

  • Support Beauty with the Basics

I feel a like the basics are super boring but important to mention. Staying hydrated (drinking enough water) , avoiding hot showers and always using sunscreen or products with SPF form the foundation for good skin. These steps are not sexy or new but shouldn’t be forgotten. Following these three steps will help optimize your skin short term and long term.

  • Set a Beauty Goal

I like the idea of setting only 1 beauty goal at a time. By choosing one thing at a time you can focus your time and money and measure the results more easily. Examples could be to get your skin to a place where your comfortable to go natural or to find the perfect lip shade. Focus on the thing that you feel will make the biggest different to you. Getting one thing “perfect” will give you confidence. Once you’ve achieved that beauty goal, feel free to set another. If all of this is a bit much and your not sure where to start, we like this article on anti-aging beauty routines from Good Housekeeping.

In summary, you can achieve improved beauty results in 2021 by cleaning and clearing out your beauty tools and stash, optimizing your beauty regime, supporting healthy skin and setting a beauty goal. Your on your way – behold your own beauty!
