Unique Ways to Use Face Oil

It’s no secret that skincare is expensive, and face oils are no exception.

A good face oil uses the best ingredients and doesn’t add any unnecessary fillers or fragrances. Because of this, things can get a little costly. Unlike most other skincare products though, face oil can be used in a variety of ways, so in case of emergency (beauty emergency, of course!), you’ll be getting more bang for your buck! In fact, I have used WINK and SHINE in all of the listed ways below when I was in a pinch (or more accurately, an airplane bathroom!).

Here are the best ways to repurpose your face oil:

Use Face Oil On: Your Cuticles and Hands

We put our hands through a lot during the day. In particular, constantly washing them can cause dryness and irritation. Try adding a couple drops of face oil into your favorite hand lotion. Doing this will not only make the application smoother, but also add an extra boost of moisture to your skin.

You can also apply the oil straight to your cuticles to help with dry skin and hangnails.

Use Face Oil On: Your Hair

Argan Oil is incredibly beneficial for your hair. You can use it as a leave in conditioner after you get out of the shower, or to tame fly aways on dry hair. If your hair is dry and brittle, you can use it as an overnight treatment once a week (similar to this previous experiment).

Apply the oil to your hands then run it through dry hair from root to tip. Once the oil has been applied, wrap your hair up in a shower cap and go to bed. In the morning rinse your hair and you’re good to go! (source) Plus, if you can handle the smell of raw, virgin argan oil, you deserve a gold star.

Additionally, if it’s been too long between trims, you can use a bit of face oil on your ends to add some moisture and liveliness to them (just don’t overdo it!).

Use Face Oil With: Your Foundation

Highlighters have taken over the beauty scene and everyone wants that coveted JLo and GiGi Hadid glow. One of the best ways to get it, is to start with a dewy base. Enter: face oil!

You can either apply it to your skin before your makeup (being sure to let it soak in), mix it in with your foundation, or apply it to your beauty blender or brush before blending. Either way the results are a beautiful, healthy glow.

Plus, if you’re down for this year’s glossy strobe, I’m sure you can find other ways to introduce your face oil to your cheekbones. ?

Use Face Oil To: Remove Makeup

While face oil is awesome for mixing in with foundation, it’s even better at taking it off!

The ‘Double Cleanse Method’ is a game changing way to clean your face. Popularized by Korean Skincare companies, this method uses the theory that ‘like attracts like.’ Using an oil based cleanser will melt off your makeup, and remove all oil based dirt from the skin. You should then rinse the oil off with lukewarm water, and then follow with a traditional cleanser. I personally LOVE this method of cleansing the skin and do it religiously each night using CLARITY (but I have done it with SHINE before, too!). (source)
