Zion Health Product Review

Zion Health is a small natural health company specializing in the healing powers of Kanwa Clay Minerals. The company founder is an avid believer and user of natural healing remedies discovered certain types of clay contain a powerful combination of minerals that can heal many different ailments of the body with little side effects. The founder had gum issues and discovered the healing power of clay which lead to their first and most popular item ClayBrite Toothpaste. The company now has over 100 natural ancient clay body care items ranging to include hair care, cleansers, face masks, soaps, clay deodorants and more.  In the spirit of full disclosure, Zion reached out to us at Amalie since we both sit in the organic, vegan, healthy beauty space and offered us a few items to test in exchange for an objective review.

Adama Minerals Hydrating Lip Balm Elderberry

Description:

This little stick is packed with antioxidants, fatty acids and clay minerals. With long lasting moisture, it contains natural medicinal ingredients like hemp seed oil and rosemary leaf extract. These ingredients alleviate pain and help to stimulate healthy collagen production. Other key ingredients include sunflower seed oil, elderberry, olive fruit oil and beeswax. Goes on smooth and smells a bit like grape and berry. My lips were dry when I tried the product and within two days my lips were back to a normal state. Adama Mineral Lip Balm provides a sublet gloss to your lips and you can easily layer lip gloss or lipstick over it if you’d like. The only downside I see to the item is that I noticed a slight metallic taste. The metallic taste could be from the elderberry flavor, there are other flavors to choose from. It should be noted that I have sensitive skin and am very sensitive to smell and taste. Tip: There is no SPF in this item so be sure to protect your lips.

Ingredients:

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Beeswax*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Elderberry Flavor, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil*, Bentonite Clay, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Tocopherol, Sambucus Nigra (Elderberry) Fruit Extract*, *Certified Organic

Cost: $4

Rating: Overall I liked the product. The only downside I experienced was the slight metallic taste which I believe came from the minerals added to the formulation. I would recommend purchasing this product.

Mango Shea Face Mask

Mango Shea Face Mask

Description: The mango shea mask is designed for hydrating and renewing dry skin. It’s designed to be used daily on your face or any part of your body that is dry. This super hydrating mask combines mango, shea butter and purifying minerals from clay that help to purify, hydrate and revitalize skin tone. Since there was clay in the mask, I expected it to be thicker but it was smooth and I was able to apply a thin layer as recommended. The mask had a natural claylike scent but it was as strong as other clay mask items I’ve tried. I left the mask on for 15 minutes (the recommended maximum time frame) and even with my sensitive skin and I had no breakouts or issues. I found the mask to nourish my skin without clogging pours.

Ingredients: Water, Emulsifying Wax, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil, Fractionated Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Oil, Kaolin Clay, Mango (Mangifera Indica) Butter, Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao) Butter, Shea (Butyrospermum Parkii) Butter, French Red Clay, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Calcium Montmorillonite Clay, Natural Fragrance

Cost: $20

Rating: I enjoyed the Mango Shea Face Mask. To be honest, there are people who use face masks regularly and I’m just not one of them. I do know that it’s hard to find an organic mask that is of good quality but as the price reflects, you’ll need to pay a bit more for it.

Cost: $20

Rating: This is my first experience with a scalp treatment so I have no competitive reference. Since I have sensitive skin, I decided to test the scalp foam first. I have long hair and been having dry, itchy scalp on the lower back part of the back of my head so I tested the foaming formula on that area. I am happy to say that it did help with the irritation after just one use. The solution foams in your hand and then you apply it to your wet hair. I let it sit for 10 minutes prior to rinsing it off. I have highlights in my hair and was concerned about the foam discoloring it but I read up online and it seems apple cider vinegar is safe on dyed hair. I will use this product on the rest of my scalp and do recommend it.

In summary, Zion Health has a range of quality natural healthcare items. I enjoyed the 3 items offered and would recommend them. There are lots of others I am curious about and will try as well.
